Air Pollution & Swayamsiddha Agnihotra

Air pollution (वायु प्रदूषण) is a type of environmental pollution that affects the air and is usually caused by smoke or other harmful gases, mainly oxides of carbon, sulfur, and nitrogen. In other words, air pollution is the contamination of air due to the presence or introduction of a substance which has a poisonous effect. Many of the world’s large cities today have polluted air or has low air quality. Siddha Spirituality of Swami Hardas Life System has introduced the best remedy for Air Pollution i.e. Swayamsiddha Agnihotra (स्वयंसिद्ध अग्निहोत्र), which requires no extra efforts, expertise, and huge money to get air pollution under control. So let us learn about air pollution, causes, effects, best solutions, benefits, and how to perform Swayamsiddha Agnihotra.

Air pollution Definition (वायु प्रदूषण की परिभाषा)

Air pollution can be defined as the presence of toxic chemicals or compounds in the air, at levels that pose a health risk. In an even broader sense, air pollution means the presence of chemicals or compounds in the air which are usually not present and which lower the quality of the air or cause detrimental changes to the quality of life (such as the damaging of the ozone layer or causing global warming).

Air Pollution Causes (वायु प्रदूषण का कारण)

Farmlands and forests sometimes burn in wildfires producing soot (a black powder composed mainly of carbon, produced when coal, grasses, wood, etc. is burned) from the smoke. Soot can affect people and other life. People start many of those fires.

Industrial Air pollution (औद्योगिक वायु प्रदूषण)

Many industrial power plants burn fossil fuels to get their energy. However, burning fossil fuels can make a lot of oxides. In fact, the burning of fossil fuels makes 96% of the sulfur oxides in the atmosphere. Some industries also make chemicals that make poisonous fumes.

Indoor Air pollution (घर के अंदर का वायु प्रदूषण)

Air pollution is not only on the outside. Homes, schools, and buildings can also have air pollution. Sometimes the air inside a building is even worse than the air outside. Many things which humans use every day can pollute the air. Compounds inside carpets, paints, building materials, and furniture also pollute the air, especially when they are new.

In buildings where the windows are tightly shut to stop air leaks, the air inside can be polluted more than the air outside.

Acid precipitation (अम्ल अवक्षेपण)

Acid precipitation is precipitation, like rain, sleet, or snow, that contains acids from air pollution. When fossil fuels are burned, they let out oxides into the air. When these oxides mix with water in the atmosphere, they make acid, which falls as precipitation.

Acid precipitation can kill living things like fish and trees, by making the place where they live too acidic. Acid rain can also damage buildings made of limestone and concrete.

Ozone hole (ओजोन छिद्र)

Global concern is a hole in the ozone layer in the stratosphere. The Earth’s ozone layer protects life from the Sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays, but in the 1970s, scientists found out that some chemicals let out into the atmosphere makes the ozone turn into oxygen.

This lets more ultraviolet rays reach the Earth. During the 1980s, scientists found that the ozone layer above the South Pole had thinned by 50 to 98 %.

Air pollution Effects (वायु प्रदूषण के प्रभाव)

Effects on Humans (मनुष्य पर प्रभाव)

People experience a wide range of health effects from being exposed to air pollution. Effects can be broken down into short-term effects and long-term effects.

Short-term effects, which are temporary, include illnesses such as pneumonia or bronchitis. They also include discomforts such as irritation to the nose, throat, eyes, or skin. Air pollution can also cause headaches, dizziness, and nausea. Bad smells made by factories, garbage, or sewer systems are considered air pollution, too. These odors are less serious but still unpleasant.

Long-term effects of air pollution can last for years or for an entire lifetime. They can even lead to a person’s death. Long-term health effects from air pollution include heart diseaselung cancer, and respiratory diseases such as emphysema. Air pollution can also cause long-term damage to people’s nerves, brainkidneysliver, and other organs. Some scientists suspect air pollutants cause birth defects.

Nearly 2.5 million people die worldwide each year from the effects of outdoor or indoor air pollution.

Effects on the environment (पर्यावरण पर प्रभाव)

Like people, animals, and plants, entire ecosystems can suffer effects from air pollution. Haze, like smog, is a visible type of air pollution that obscures shapes and colors. Hazy air pollution can even muffle sounds.

Air pollution particles eventually fall back to Earth. Air pollution can directly contaminate the surface of bodies of water and soil. This can kill crops or reduce their yield. It can kill young trees and other plants.

Like humans, animals can suffer health effects from exposure to air pollution. Birth defects, diseases, and lower reproductive rates have all been attributed to air pollution.

Global Warming (भूमंडलीय ऊष्मीकरण)

Global warming is an environmental phenomenon caused by natural and anthropogenic air pollution. It refers to rising air and ocean temperatures around the world. This temperature rise is at least partially caused by an increase in the number of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases trap heat energy in the Earth atmosphere.

Air pollution Health effects (वायु प्रदूषण के स्व्वास्थ्य पर प्रभाव)

Your actual risk of adverse effects depends on your current health status, the pollutant type and concentration, and the length of your exposure to the polluted air.

High air pollution levels can cause immediate health problems including:

  • Aggravated cardiovascular and respiratory illness
  • Added stress to the heart and lungs, which must work harder to supply the body with oxygen
  • Damaged cells in the respiratory system

Long-term exposure to polluted air can have permanent health effects such as:

  • Accelerated aging of the lungs
  • Loss of lung capacity and decreased lung function
  • Development of diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, and possibly cancer
  • Shortened life span

Those most susceptible to severe health problems from air pollution are:

  • Individuals with heart disease, coronary artery disease or congestive heart failure
  • Individuals with lung diseases such as asthma, emphysema or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Pregnant women
  • Outdoor workers
  • Miscarriage
  • Older adults and the elderly
  • Children under age 14
  • Athletes who exercise vigorously outdoors
People in these groups may experience health impacts at lower air pollution exposure levels, or their health effects may be of greater intensity.

It can also cause other health problems including:

  • Aggravated respiratory disease such as emphysema, bronchitis, and asthma
  • Lung damage, even after symptoms such as coughing or a sore throat disappear
  • Wheezing, chest pain, dry throat, headache or nausea
  • Reduced resistance to infections
  • Increased fatigue
  • Weakened athletic performance

Air pollution solutions (वायु प्रदूषण का समाधान)

Other greenhouse gases emitted by natural and artificial sources also include:

  • Methane
  • Nitrous oxide
  • Fluorinated gases

Methane is a major emission from coal plants and agricultural processes. Nitrous oxide is a common emission from industrial factories, agriculture, and the burning of fossil fuels in cars. CFCs have been outlawed in many places because they deplete the ozone layer.

Reduction of air pollution (वायु प्रदूषण में कमी)

Anybody can take steps to reduce air pollution. Millions of people every day make simple changes in their lives to do this:

  • Using public transportation instead of driving a car or use eco-friendly car
  • Riding an eco-friendly bike instead of traveling in carbon dioxide-emitting vehicles
  • Avoiding aerosol cans
  • Non-use of Air-conditioners, and refrigerators
  • Recycling yard trimmings instead of burning them
  • Use clean fuels – electricity, natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in cities, and LPG and advanced biomass cooking and heating stoves in rural areas; substitute of coal by briquettes for cooking
  • Not smoking cigarettes
  • Introduce the newest end-of-pipe measures to reduce the emission of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and particulate more mt at power stations and in large-scale industry
  • Introduce advanced emissions standards in industries, e.g., iron and steel plants, cement factories, glass production, chemical industry, etc
  • Strengthen all emissions standards; special focus on the regulation of light- and heavy-duty diesel vehicles
  • Enforce mandatory checks and repairs for vehicles
  • Suppress construction and road dust; increase green areas
  • Manage agricultural residues, including strict enforcement of bans on open burning
  • Strictly enforce bans on open burning of household waste
  • Prevent forest and peatland fires through improved forest, land and water management and fire prevention strategies
  • Establish efficient application; for urea also use urease inhibitors and/or substitute with, for example, ammonium nitrate
  • Improve efficiency and introduce emissions standards for Brick kilns (stone ovens)
  • Use incentives to foster extended use of wind, solar and hydropower for electricity generation and phase out the least efficient coal plants
  • Use incentives to improve the energy efficiency of household appliances, buildings, lighting, heating, and cooling; encourage rooftop solar installations for every household
  • Encourage centralized waste collection with source separation and treatment, including gas utilization

China is one of the most rapidly developing nations in the world. It also has one of the highest rates of air pollution.

Agnihotra (अग्निहोत्र)

An agnihotra is a form of Vrat performed by invoking Tej to attract the Chaitanya of manifest Sagun (Manifest) form and Nirgun (Unmanifest) in its Principle form. Agnihotra is Divine worship performed by offering oblations in the Agni. Swayamsiddha Agnihotra is the latest invention of Dr. Swami Hardas. This is the best, convenient, and result-oriented solution not only for air pollution but also for achieving numerous benefits, which we are going to learn now.

Swayamsiddha Agnihotra (स्वयंसिद्ध अग्निहोत्र)

Apart from being Divine worship, Swayamsiddha Agnihotra is Selfsiddha (Self-proved), Agni based (Fire), and who recalls the deities for the fulfillment of Sankalp with the help of Siddha Energy.

However, the performer needs to undergo a unique training and Celestial Siddha Shaktipat for performing Swayamsiddha Agnihotra. There are many such centers all over India as well as in some countries. The main center is at Shaktidata, Wadgaonsheri, Pune (India).

Swayamsiddha Agnihotra should not be performed without undergoing training because a performer needs protection. This activity, although, is confined to the believers of Indian culture, it can be performed by anybody, irrespective of caste, creed, faith, sex, or age. Swayamsiddha Agnihotra Meaning (स्वयंसिद्ध अग्निहोत्र का मतलब)

Swayamsiddha: It is complete in all respect and ready for favoring humanity.

Agni (अग्नि): Agni (Fire) is the manifest form of all Deities. The individual’s gross and subtle body gets purified. The Swayamsiddha Agnihotra is free from any restrictions, bindings, timings, and limitations.

Hota (होता): The Vedas have termed Agni as ‘Divya (Divine) Hota’. Hota means a Rutvij invoking the Shakti (शक्ति को आह्वान करता हुआ रुतविज). When the fire is kindled at the place of Swayamsiddha Agnihotra during the day, and we deeply contemplate and invoke God with oblations in our hand, Agni brings Shakti (Energy) and keeps it present at that time.

Agnihotra (अग्निहोत्र): While performing Swayamsiddha Agnihotra, our Deity of worship remains manifest in front of us in the house or at the place of worship. Therefore, the environment of great purity and sanctity is created at that place during the performance of Swayamsiddha Agnihotra.

The mouth of Shakti (शक्ति का मुख): The Vedas have addressed Agni as the ‘Mouth of Shakti’ or carrier of oblations. You may worship God in any form. However, if you wish to offer oblations to any Deities, it has to be offered only through Agni – ‘Mouth of Deities’.

Chaitanya (चैतन्य): Any act performed in the presence of Agni bestows the result of complete Chaitanya on the individual without any hindrance. When the individual starts worshipping the Divine principle in the presence of Agni, only then the act gets transformed into Sadhana in the true sense.
