What is Low blood pressure
Low blood pressure, also called Hypotension, especially in the arteries of the systemic circulation. Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps out blood.
A systolic blood pressure of fewer than 90 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) or diastolic of less than 60 mm Hg is generally considered to be hypotension. However, in practice, blood pressure is considered too low only if noticeable symptoms are present.

Hypotension is the opposite of hypertension, which is high blood pressure. It is best understood as a physiological state, rather than a disease. Severely low blood pressure can deprive the brain and other vital organs of oxygen and nutrients, leading to a life-threatening condition called shock.
Low blood pressure Symptoms
The primary symptoms of Low BP (hypotension) are lightheadedness or dizziness. If the blood pressure is sufficiently low, fainting may occur. Low blood pressure is sometimes associated with certain symptoms, many of which are related to causes rather than effects of hypotension:
- Chest pain
- Shortness of breath
- Irregular heartbeat
- Fever higher than 38.3 °C (101 °F)
- A headache
- Stiff neck
- Severe upper back pain
- Cough with sputum
- Prolonged diarrhea or vomiting
- Dyspepsia (indigestion)
- Dysuria (painful urination)
- Acute, life-threatening allergic reaction
- Seizures
- Loss of consciousness
- Profound fatigue
- Temporary blurring or loss of vision
- Black tarry stools
Low blood pressure causes
1. Low blood pressure can be caused by low blood volume, hormonal changes, widening of blood vessels, medicine side effects, anemia, heart problems or endocrine problems.
2. Reduced blood volume, hypovolemia, is the most common cause of hypotension. This can result from hemorrhage; insufficient fluid intake, as in starvation; or excessive fluid losses from diarrhea or vomiting. Low blood pressure may also be attributed to heat stroke. The body may have enough fluid but does not retain electrolytes. The absence of perspiration, lightheadedness and dark colored urine are also indicators.
3. Other medications can produce low blood pressure (hypotension) through different mechanisms. Chronic use of alpha-blockers or beta blockers can lead to hypotension. Beta blockers can cause hypotension both by slowing the heart rate and by decreasing the pumping ability of the heart muscle.
4. Decreased cardiac output despite normal blood volume, due to severe congestive heart failure, large myocardial infarction, heart valve problems, or extremely low heart rate, often produces hypotension and can rapidly progress to cardiogenic shock. Arrhythmias often result in hypotension by this mechanism.
5. Some heart conditions can lead to low blood pressure, including extremely low heart rate (bradycardia), heart valve problems, heart attack, and heart failure. These conditions may cause low blood pressure because they prevent the body from being able to circulate enough blood.
6. Excessive vasodilation, or insufficient constriction of the resistance blood vessels, causes hypotension. This can be due to decreased sympathetic nervous system output or to increased parasympathetic activity occurring as a consequence of injury to the brain or spinal cord. Many anesthetic agents and techniques, including spinal anesthesia and most inhalational agents, produce significant vasodilation.
Meditation, Yoga, Music, and/or other mental-physiological disciplines may reduce hypotensive effects.
Lower blood pressure is a side effect of certain herbal medicines, which can also interact with hypotensive medications. An example is theobromine in Theobroma cacao, which lowers blood pressure through its actions as both a vasodilator and a diuretic, and has been used to treat high blood pressure.
Low blood pressure Diagnosis
The diagnosis of hypotension is made by first obtaining a blood pressure, either non-invasively with a sphygmomanometer or invasively with an arterial catheter. If the MAP (Mean Arterial Pressure) is less than 65mmHg, this is generally considered hypotension.
For most adults, the healthiest blood pressure is at or below 120/80 mmHg. A small drop in blood pressure, even as little as 20 mmHg, can result in transient hypotension.
Evaluation of vasovagal syncope is done with a tilt table test. If you have low blood pressure on standing, or from faulty brain signals, a tilt table test can evaluate how your body reacts to changes in position. During the test, you lie on a table that’s tilted to raise the upper part of your body, which simulates the movement from horizontal to a standing position.
Low blood pressure Treatments
The treatment for hypotension depends on its cause. Chronic hypotension rarely exists as more than a symptom.
Asymptomatic hypotension in healthy people usually does not require treatment.
Adding electrolytes to a diet can relieve symptoms of mild hypotension. A morning dose of caffeine can also be effective.
In mild cases, where the patient is still responsive, laying the person in dorsal decubitus (lying on the back) position and lifting the legs increases venous return, thus making more blood available to critical organs in the chest and head.
Hypotensive shock treatment always follows the first four following steps. Outcomes, in terms of mortality, are directly linked to the speed that hypotension is corrected. Still-debated methods are in parentheses, as are benchmarks for evaluating progress in correcting hypotension.
A study on septic shock provided the delineation of these general principles. However, since it focuses on hypotension due to infection, it is not applicable to all forms of severe hypotension:
- Volume resuscitation (usually with crystalloid)
- Blood pressure support with a vasopressor, all seem equivalent with respect to the risk of death, with norepinephrine possibly better than dopamine.
- Trying to achieve a mean arterial pressure (MAP) of greater than 70 mmHg does not appear to result in better outcomes than trying to achieve a MAP of greater than 65 mm Hg in adults.
- Ensure adequate tissue perfusion, maintain SvO2, less than 70 mmHg with use of blood or dobutamine
- Address the underlying problem (i.e., antibiotic for an infection, stent or CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft surgery) for infarction, steroids for adrenal insufficiency, etc.
The best way to determine if a person will benefit from fluids is by doing a passive leg raise followed by measuring the output from the heart.
Low blood pressure Ayurveda
Low blood pressure (LBP) is a medical disorder that causes blood pressure to drop below normal levels. While the condition typically isn’t as dangerous as hypertension, it can lead to life-threatening situations if not dealt with appropriately or in a timely manner. To know more, please read…
In Ayurveda, low blood pressure is the result of the weakness of the digestive fire and it can affect people with any of the three doshas. For people with the Vata constitution, low blood pressure is the result of the poor circulation of blood. For the pitta type, it is caused due to anemic conditions and poorly affected the functioning of the liver. Finally, for the Kapha constitution, low blood pressure can happen when there are congestion and stagnation in the body which reduces the blood flow. To know more, please read…

Low blood pressure Natural home remedies
Most of the people with low blood pressure do not need medications or other medical interventions to raise blood pressure. There are plenty of natural ways and lifestyle changes to raise low blood pressure, including the following lifestyle changes:
Eat more salt
Contrary to popular advice, low-sodium diets are not good for everyone with blood pressure problems. People with low blood pressure should consider increasing their sodium intake moderately to help raise blood pressure.
Avoid alcoholic beverages
Alcohol can lower blood pressure further, so people with low blood pressure should avoid drinking excessive amounts of alcohol.
Discuss medications with a doctor
Low blood pressure can be a side effect of a variety of medications. If symptoms of low blood pressure begin after starting a medication, a person should discuss the symptoms with their doctor.
Cross legs while sitting
Crossing the legs while sitting has been shown to increase blood pressure. For people with high blood pressure, this can be a problem. For people with low blood pressure symptoms, crossed legs may help increase blood pressure with minimal effort.
Drink water
Drinking more water can help increase blood volume, which can alleviate one of the potential causes of low blood pressure. It can also help avoid dehydration.
Eat small meals frequently
Eating smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day may help with low blood pressure. This is because smaller meals help prevent a drop in blood pressure associated with eating larger and heavier meals.
Wear compression stockings
Compression stockings help reduce the amount of blood that gets caught in the lower legs and feet, so shifting it elsewhere. Compression stockings are also used to help relieve pressure and pain associated with varicose veins.
Avoid sudden position changes
Sitting up or standing up rapidly can cause a feeling of lightheadedness, dizziness, or potential fainting in people with low blood pressure. In these cases, the heart has not pumped enough blood through the body quickly enough to account for the sudden change in position or elevation.
Be aware of symptoms
Low blood pressure is only considered a problem if symptoms exist. If there are no symptoms present, low blood pressure should be taken as a sign of good health.
Low Blood Pressure & Free Siddha Energy Remedies
Now, the problems, causes, diagnosis, and treatments of low blood pressure are within the reach of the sufferer. Overcoming low blood pressure problems is feasible with simple, self-learned and self-practiced best solutions are available in Siddha Spirituality of Swami Hardas Life System. They can be applied without money and medicines. Low blood pressure and even associated problems can be solved easily, effectively, and successfully for achieving health.
How to solve low blood pressure problems with the best solutions:
1. Siddha Preventive Measures
These are must and to be practiced by everybody, whether healthy or status of health, peace, and progress is deteriorated. As a matter of fact, Siddha Preventive Measures are primary steps for switching on to any other Siddha Remedy, which help in one’s capability, productivity, decision making power, intellectuality and removing minor health problems. These are known as (a) Earthing, (b) Field Cleaning, and (c) Siddha Brain Exercise or Energizing.
(a) Earthing can be performed as follows:
Stand erect raising heels from the ground, raise both the hands in the air, open up all the fingers, bring hands downward in a circular motion and touch the ground with the tips of fingers. Stay for 30 to 60 seconds in the same position and come back to the original position. This action will pass on the negativity of the body into the ground and hence it is called ‘earthing’, which is one of the ‘preventive measures’. Do this only once.
(b) Field cleaning can be performed as follows:
Stand erect on flat feet, keep the palm of both the hands over the head and slowly bring down the hands toward the ground, as close as to body but not touching any part/portion. Thus, touch the ground with flat palms of the hands. This is to be done twice.
(c) Siddha Brain Exercise/Energizing, which can be performed as follows with three steps:
Step 1: Apply little coconut oil or any suitable oil to the tips of all the 10 fingers of both hands and do massage with the tips for almost two minutes. Wait for a few seconds. Those who do not like oil for their head, they can perform this without applying oil.
Step 2: Open all the fingers of your hands, place them over the forehead and drag them slowly with little pressure up to the lower portion of the small brain. Do this at least 8 to 10 times. Wait for few seconds.
Step 3: The head should be bent and brought below the level of the heart. Wait there for almost 1 minute and slowly come to a normal position. Do this 3 times. This way the Brain Exercise may be practiced and completed after taking bath and before going to the bed (two times a day).
The benefits achieved are praiseworthy and astonishing. It will also help students to increase their memory and thus help remember studies at the right time.

Shaktidata Photo of Dr. Swami Hardas and Aasan. The Shaktidata Photo of Dr. Swami Hardas may be of calendar size or passport size.
Method
Sit comfortably on the ground over any piece of cloth or Aasan. Hold the Shaktidata Photo in any one of the hands. Start looking continuously in the eyes of Swamiji and say a Sankalp as mentioned below:
Sankalp: “Siddha Swami Give Me Siddha Energy so that I get Health” three times. Keep looking continuously for a few seconds and feel/imagine Swamiji is bestowing ‘Siddha Energy’. Now, close eyes for half a minute and establish received Siddha Energy in between two eyebrows (just above the nose on the forehead i.e. Agya Chakra) for half a minute. Repeat this process three times.
However, do not open eyes the third time. Now start moving the energy in a circular motion inside the whole body. Repeat this process nine times. Where there is a problem in the body, the energy should be rotated for a little longer time (in this case at a head and heart). Finish this process within 3 minutes.
Open the eyes by leaving the energy either at the Agya Chakra or where the problem lies i.e. head and heart. The opening of the eyes should be slow. Thus, you will surely achieve health as far as low blood pressure is concerned.
